 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Mithoff Burton Partners advertising firm in El
 Paso is celebrating its 80th anniversary in 2011; and
 WHEREAS, The second oldest advertising agency in Texas and
 the oldest in El Paso, Mithoff Burton Partners was founded in 1931
 by Warren Mithoff, who bartered advertising services for office
 space downtown; his son joined him in the business after World War
 II, and Bill Burton, who now runs the firm with his wife, Chana,
 came to the agency in 1973; and
 WHEREAS, Since its inception, the agency has handled
 campaigns for companies including El Paso Natural Gas, Weaver
 Scopes, the Azar Nut Company, Blockbuster, Sierra Medical Center,
 and Farah Manufacturing, which was once El Paso's largest employer;
 in addition, the agency has done advertising work for numerous
 nonprofit organizations, such as the El Paso Symphony Orchestra,
 the Plaza Classic Film Festival, the Lighthouse for the Blind, the
 United Way of El Paso, and the Humane Society of El Paso; and
 WHEREAS, Mithoff Burton Partners has seen great changes in
 advertising during the past eight decades, as photos and graphics
 have overtaken text in print ads and as social media have become
 increasingly popular; today, the agency emphasizes a personal
 approach in its campaigns to reach varied audiences and has opened a
 second office in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with a total staff of 22 between
 the two locations; and
 WHEREAS, After 80 years of operation, Mithoff Burton Partners
 continues to make an important contribution to El Paso and the Lone
 Star State, and it is a pleasure to honor the agency during this
 milestone year; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Mithoff Burton Partners on its 80th
 anniversary and extend to all those associated with the firm
 sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the firm as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
