H.R. No. 1428
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Martha Davis, a life skills teacher at Gilmer High
School, has been honored by the Gilmer Area Chamber of Commerce as
Educator of the Year for 2010; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to improving the lives of young people,
Ms. Davis has taught special education for 14 years; in recognition
of her devotion to her students and her outstanding teaching
skills, Gilmer High School named her its 2009-2010 Teacher of the
Year; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Davis also works with children through scouting,
a program she has supported in a number of capacities, including her
present post as a troop committee member; in addition, she
volunteers as a vacation Bible school director and as a camp
counselor for preteens; and
WHEREAS, Countless students have benefited from the energy,
enthusiasm, and commitment to excellence that Martha Davis brings
to the classroom, and she is indeed worthy of this most recent
accolade; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Martha Davis on her selection as
the 2010 Educator of the Year by the Gilmer Area Chamber of Commerce
and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be
it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Davis as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
