H.R. No. 1860 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Yolanda Clarke of Travis High School in Richmond has been named 2011-2012 Secondary Teacher of the Year by the Fort Bend Independent School District; and WHEREAS, Ms. Clarke earned her bachelor's degree in English and journalism from Baylor University, and she has attended Rice University's Advanced Placement Summer Institute; she has served as a presenter at several district and state conferences; and WHEREAS, An exemplary educator with 15 years of experience, Ms. Clarke has taught 12th-grade English at Travis High School for the past five years; recognizing the important role that teachers play in the lives of their students, she works to instill all with pride in their own worth and accomplishments; and WHEREAS, Children are the Lone Star State's most precious resource, and a solid education is vital in order for our young people to become successful adults; Ms. Clarke exemplifies the qualities that make a truly great teacher, and she indeed merits special recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Yolanda Clarke of Travis High School for being named 2011-2012 Secondary Teacher of the Year by the Fort Bend Independent School District and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Clarke as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
