No. 830 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, RVOS Farm Mutual Insurance Company is celebrating the 110th anniversary of its founding on April 23, 2011; and WHEREAS, In 1901, nine Texans of Czech descent who farmed land in the Temple vicinity founded the Rolnicky Vzajemne Ochranny Spolek Statu Texasu, or the Farmers Mutual Protective Association of Texas, pooling their resources to start a basic fire insurance protection program for farmers and rural citizens; in 1933, the association extended its coverage to city property as well, and in 1946 it opened an office in Temple; and WHEREAS, Now known as RVOS Farm Mutual Insurance, the company continues to be owned by its policyholders, a group that has grown to more than 68,000; and WHEREAS, Locally owned and operated companies like RVOS Farm Mutual Insurance Company are critical to the economic prosperity of the state, and for more than a century, RVOS has provided security and peace of mind for many Texas families; its longevity is a measure of its commendable record of success and its noteworthy contributions to its community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby commemorate the 110th anniversary of the founding of RVOS Farm Mutual Insurance Company and extend to its officers and members sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the company as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
