 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories
 of Guillermo Hernandez, Sr., of San Marcos, who passed away on
 February 23, 2011, at the age of 89; and
 WHEREAS, "Willie" Hernandez was born in San Marcos on June 8,
 1921, to Refugio and Felicianna Hernandez; answering his nation's
 call to duty, he served with the U.S. Army during World War II; and
 WHEREAS, After the war, Mr. Hernandez married the former
 Esperanza Torres, and they shared a fulfilling relationship that
 lasted 53 years, until Mrs. Hernandez passed away; together, the
 couple were blessed with 11 children, and through the years the
 family grew to include 26 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren;
 and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Hernandez was employed at San Marcos Baptist
 Academy and Gary Job Corps Center until his retirement; from 1992 to
 2003, he returned to work at Los Angeles Funeral Home; and
 WHEREAS, A man of strong religious faith, he was an active
 member of St. John's Catholic Church, where he served as an usher
 for more than half a century; and
 WHEREAS, While the death of Willie Hernandez brings great
 sorrow to his loved ones, his legacy of devotion to his family, his
 church, and his nation will be a source of continuing inspiration to
 all who shared in the richness of his life; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Guillermo
 Hernandez, Sr., and extend sincere condolences to the members of
 his family: to his sons, Guillermo Hernandez, Jr., and his wife,
 Olga, George Edward Hernandez and his wife, Natalie, Robert
 Hernandez, Sr., and his wife, Mary Helen, Mario Enrique Hernandez,
 Sr., Pedro Hernandez, Sr., and his wife, Olivia, Richard James
 Hernandez, Sr., and his wife, Margaret, Emilio Humberto Hernandez
 and his wife, Patricia, Raymond Charles Hernandez and his wife,
 Belinda, and Steven Anthony Hernandez and his wife, Christina; to
 his daughters, Mary Esther H. Escobedo and her husband, Santiago,
 and Rose Alva H. Lopez and her husband, Ruben; to his brother, Paul
 Hernandez, and his wife, Janie; to his sisters, Ofelia Rodriguez
 and Carmen Hernandez and her husband, Juan; to his sister-in-law,
 Rafaela Hernandez; to his 24 grandchildren and
 26 great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and friends;
 and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Willie
 Hernandez.
