77 relating to rules adopted and reporting required under the school
88 district college credit program.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subsection (b), Section 28.009, Education Code,
1111 is amended to read as follows:
1212 (b) The agency shall coordinate with the Texas Higher
1313 Education Coordinating Board as necessary in administering this
1414 section. The commissioner may adopt rules as necessary concerning
1515 the duties under this section of a school district. The Texas
1616 Higher Education Coordinating Board may adopt rules as necessary
1717 concerning the duties under this section of a public institution of
1818 higher education.
1919 SECTION 2. Effective September 1, 2011, Subsection (c),
2020 Section 28.009, Education Code, is amended to read as follows:
2121 (c) Each school district shall annually report to the
2222 agency:
2323 (1) the number of district students, including career
2424 and technical students, who have participated in the program [and
2525 earned college credit]; and
2626 (2) the [cumulative number of] courses in which
2727 participating district students [have enrolled and college credit
2828 hours the students] have earned high school credit under this
2929 section.
3030 SECTION 3. Effective September 1, 2013, Subsection (c),
3131 Section 28.009, Education Code, is amended to read as follows:
3232 (c) The commissioner and the Texas Higher Education
3333 Coordinating Board shall share data as necessary to enable school
3434 districts to comply with this subsection. Each school district
3535 shall annually report to the agency:
3636 (1) the number of district students, including career
3737 and technical students, who have participated in the program and
3838 earned college credit; and
3939 (2) the cumulative number of courses in which
4040 participating district students have enrolled and college credit
4141 hours the students have earned.
4242 SECTION 4. Effective September 1, 2013, Section 28.009,
4343 Education Code, is amended by adding Subsection (c-1) to read as
4444 follows:
4545 (c-1) The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board shall
4646 collect student course credit data from public institutions of
4747 higher education as necessary for purposes of Subsection (c).
4848 SECTION 5. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
4949 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
5050 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
5151 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
5252 Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
