| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subsection (a), Section 1053.051, Special | |
| 11 | 11 | District Local Laws Code, is amended to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (a) The board consists of not fewer than six [five] and not | |
| 13 | 13 | more than eight [seven] managers appointed as follows: | |
| 14 | 14 | (1) one ex officio manager appointed by the Texas Tech | |
| 15 | 15 | University Board of Regents; and | |
| 16 | 16 | (2) the remaining managers appointed by the | |
| 17 | 17 | commissioners court. | |
| 18 | 18 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 19 | 19 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 20 | 20 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 21 | 21 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 22 | 22 | Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
