99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. The heading to Chapter 54, Occupations Code, is
1111 amended to read as follows:
1212 CHAPTER 54. EXAMINATION ON RELIGIOUS HOLY DAY; EXAMINATION
1313 ACCOMMODATIONS FOR PERSON WITH DYSLEXIA
1414 SECTION 2. Chapter 54, Occupations Code, is amended by
1515 adding Section 54.003 to read as follows:
1616 Sec. 54.003. EXAMINATION ACCOMMODATIONS FOR PERSON WITH
1717 DYSLEXIA. (a) In this section, "dyslexia" has the meaning
1818 assigned by Section 51.970, Education Code.
1919 (b) For each licensing examination administered by a state
2020 agency, the agency shall provide reasonable examination
2121 accommodations to an examinee diagnosed as having dyslexia.
2222 (c) Each state agency shall adopt rules necessary to
2323 implement this section, including rules to establish the
2424 eligibility criteria an examinee must meet for accommodation under
2525 this section.
2626 SECTION 3. (a) Each state agency that offers a licensing
2727 examination shall adopt rules to implement Section 54.003,
2828 Occupations Code, as added by this Act, not later than December 1,
2929 2011.
3030 (b) The change in law made by Section 54.003, Occupations
3131 Code, as added by this Act, applies only to a licensing examination
3232 offered by a state agency on or after January 1, 2012.
3333 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
