13 | 13 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
14 | 14 | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 39, Education Code, is | |
15 | 15 | amended by adding Section 39.0521 to read as follows: | |
16 | 16 | Sec. 39.0521. REVOCATION OF ACCREDITATION FOR VIOLATING THE | |
17 | 17 | TEXAS CONSTITUTION. (a) If the attorney general determines that a | |
18 | 18 | school district knowingly violated a provision of the Texas | |
19 | 19 | Constitution, the commissioner shall revoke the accreditation of | |
20 | 20 | the district and order the closure of the district. | |
21 | 21 | (b) If the commissioner revokes the accreditation of a | |
22 | 22 | school district as provided by Subsection (a), the district may not | |
23 | 23 | receive funds from the agency. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
