No. 1568 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT relating to the accreditation status and eligibility for funding under the Foundation School Program of a district that knowingly violates the Texas Constitution. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 39, Education Code, is amended by adding Section 39.0521 to read as follows: Sec. 39.0521. REVOCATION OF ACCREDITATION FOR VIOLATING THE TEXAS CONSTITUTION. (a) If the attorney general determines that a school district knowingly violated a provision of the Texas Constitution, the commissioner shall revoke the accreditation of the district and order the closure of the district. (b) If the commissioner revokes the accreditation of a school district as provided by Subsection (a), the district may not receive funds from the agency. SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
