| 13 | 13 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 14 | 14 | | SECTION 1. Section 22.038(b), Local Government Code, is |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (b) The mayor may call a special meeting on the mayor's own |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | motion and shall call a special meeting [or] on the application of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | three aldermen. Each member of the governing body, the secretary, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | and the municipal attorney must be notified of the special meeting. |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | The notice may be given personally or left at the person's usual |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | place of residence. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
