99 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1010 AN ACT
1111 relating to the authority of the mayors of certain municipalities
1212 to call a special meeting.
1313 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1414 SECTION 1. Section 22.038(b), Local Government Code, is
1515 amended to read as follows:
1616 (b) The mayor may call a special meeting on the mayor's own
1717 motion and shall call a special meeting [or] on the application of
1818 three aldermen. Each member of the governing body, the secretary,
1919 and the municipal attorney must be notified of the special meeting.
2020 The notice may be given personally or left at the person's usual
2121 place of residence.
2222 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2323 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2424 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2525 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2626 Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
