99 AN ACT
1010 relating to the allocation of the expenses of a joint election to
1111 certain school districts.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. Section 11.0581, Education Code, is amended by
1414 adding Subsection (e) to read as follows:
1515 (e) The joint election agreement allocating expenses as
1616 provided by Section 271.004, Election Code, must provide that a
1717 school district is responsible only for the proportion of election
1818 expenses that corresponds to the proportion that the number of
1919 registered voters in the school district bears to the total number
2020 of registered voters in all political subdivisions participating in
2121 the joint election. This subsection applies only to a school
2222 district:
2323 (1) that has territory located in at least four
2424 counties, each of which has a population of less than 46,100; and
2525 (2) no part of which is located in a municipality.
2626 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2727 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2828 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2929 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3030 Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
