99 AN ACT
1010 relating to eligibility for appointment as a central counting
1111 station manager.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. Section 127.002(b), Election Code, is amended to
1414 read as follows:
1515 (b) To be eligible for appointment, a person must:
1616 (1) have knowledge and experience in the conduct of
1717 elections with the electronic voting system for which the counting
1818 station is established; and
1919 (2) be a registered voter of the political subdivision
2020 served by the authority establishing the counting station, except:
2121 (A) during the first year following the adoption
2222 of the voting system; or
2323 (B) if the person is an employee of the political
2424 subdivision that adopts or owns the voting system.
2525 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2626 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2727 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2828 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2929 Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
