10 | 10 | relating to the certification of sheriffs and deputy sheriffs to | |
11 | 11 | enforce commercial motor vehicle safety standards in certain | |

13 | 13 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
14 | 14 | SECTION 1. Section 644.101(c), Transportation Code, is | |
15 | 15 | amended to read as follows: | |
16 | 16 | (c) A sheriff or a deputy sheriff of a county bordering the | |
17 | 17 | United Mexican States or of a county with a population of one [2.2] | |
18 | 18 | million or more is eligible to apply for certification under this | |
19 | 19 | section. | |
20 | 20 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
21 | 21 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
22 | 22 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
23 | 23 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
24 | 24 | Act takes effect September 1, 2013. | |
