88 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
99 AN ACT
1010 relating to the certification of sheriffs and deputy sheriffs to
1111 enforce commercial motor vehicle safety standards in certain
1212 counties.
1313 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1414 SECTION 1. Section 644.101(c), Transportation Code, is
1515 amended to read as follows:
1616 (c) A sheriff or a deputy sheriff of a county bordering the
1717 United Mexican States or of a county with a population of one [2.2]
1818 million or more is eligible to apply for certification under this
1919 section.
2020 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2121 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2222 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2323 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2424 Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
