77 relating to the appointment of a state cybersecurity coordinator.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Chapter 2054, Government Code, is amended by
1010 adding Subchapter O to read as follows:
1111 SUBCHAPTER O. STATE CYBERSECURITY
1212 Sec. 2054.551. CYBERSECURITY COORDINATOR. The executive
1313 director shall designate an employee of the department as the state
1414 cybersecurity coordinator to oversee cybersecurity matters for
1515 this state.
1616 Sec. 2054.552. PRIVATE INDUSTRY-GOVERNMENT COUNCIL. The
1717 state cybersecurity coordinator may establish a council that
1818 includes public and private sector leaders and cybersecurity
1919 practitioners to collaborate on matters of cybersecurity
2020 concerning this state.
2121 Sec. 2054.553. CYBERSECURITY APPROVAL SEAL. The state
2222 cybersecurity coordinator may establish a voluntary program that
2323 recognizes private and public entities functioning with exemplary
2424 cybersecurity practices.
2525 Sec. 2054.554. RECOMMENDATIONS. The state cybersecurity
2626 coordinator may implement any portion or all of the recommendations
2727 made by the Cybersecurity, Education, and Economic Development
2828 Council under Subchapter N.
2929 SECTION 2. Not later than December 31, 2013, the executive
3030 director of the Department of Information Resources shall designate
3131 a state cybersecurity coordinator, as required by Section 2054.551,
3232 Government Code, as added by this Act.
3333 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3434 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3535 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3636 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3737 Act takes effect on the 91st day after the last day of the
3838 legislative session.
