1010 relating to fare enforcement officers for metropolitan rapid
1111 transit authorities.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. The heading to Section 451.0612, Transportation
1414 Code, is amended to read as follows:
1515 Sec. 451.0612. FARE ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS [IN CERTAIN
1616 AUTHORITIES].
1717 SECTION 2. Section 451.0612(a), Transportation Code, is
1818 amended to read as follows:
1919 (a) An authority [confirmed before July 1, 1985, in which
2020 the principal municipality has a population of less than 850,000]
2121 may employ persons to serve as fare enforcement officers to enforce
2222 the payment of fares for use of the public transportation system by:
2323 (1) requesting and inspecting evidence showing
2424 payment of the appropriate fare from a person using the public
2525 transportation system; and
2626 (2) issuing a citation to a person described by
2727 Section 451.0611(d)(1).
2828 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
