| 12 | 12 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 13 | 13 | | SECTION 1. Section 623.219(a), Transportation Code, is |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (a) For a permit issued by a port authority located in a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | county that borders the United Mexican States, the commission |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | shall, with the consent of the port authority, designate the most |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | direct route from: |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (1) the Gateway International Bridge or the Veterans |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | International Bridge at Los Tomates to the entrance of the Port of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Brownsville using State Highways 48 and 4 or United States Highways |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | 77 and 83 or using United States Highway 77 and United States |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Highway 83, East Loop Corridor, and State Highway 4; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (2) the Free Trade International Bridge to the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | entrance of the Port of Brownsville using Farm-to-Market Road 509, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | United States Highways 77 and 83, Farm-to-Market Road 511, State |

| 27 | 27 | | Highway 550, and East Loop (State Highway 32). |
