99 AN ACT
1010 relating to designating the first Friday in November as Texas Arbor
1111 Day.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 662, Government Code, is
1414 amended by adding Section 662.056 to read as follows:
1515 Sec. 662.056. TEXAS ARBOR DAY. (a) The first Friday in
1616 November of each year is Texas Arbor Day to encourage the planting
1717 and cultivation of forest, shade, and ornamental trees throughout
1818 the state.
1919 (b) Texas Arbor Day shall be regularly observed by
2020 appropriate ceremonies and activities.
2121 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2222 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2323 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2424 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2525 Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
