12 | 12 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

13 | 13 | | SECTION 1. Section 531.383, Government Code, is amended by |
---|
14 | 14 | | adding Subsection (f) to read as follows: |
---|
15 | 15 | | (f) For purposes of Subchapter I, Chapter 659: |
---|
16 | 16 | | (1) the commission, for the sole purpose of |
---|
17 | 17 | | administering the grant program under this section, is considered |
---|
18 | 18 | | an eligible charitable organization entitled to participate in the |
---|
19 | 19 | | state employee charitable campaign; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | (2) a state employee is entitled to authorize a |
---|
21 | 21 | | deduction for contributions to the commission for the purposes of |
---|
22 | 22 | | administering the grant program under this section as a charitable |
---|
23 | 23 | | contribution under Section 659.132, and the commission may use the |
---|
24 | 24 | | contributions as provided by Subsection (a). |
---|
25 | 25 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
---|
26 | 26 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
---|
27 | 27 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
---|
28 | 28 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
---|
29 | 29 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
