| 12 | 12 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 13 | 13 | | SECTION 1. Section 531.383, Government Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | adding Subsection (f) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (f) For purposes of Subchapter I, Chapter 659: |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (1) the commission, for the sole purpose of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | administering the grant program under this section, is considered |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | an eligible charitable organization entitled to participate in the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | state employee charitable campaign; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (2) a state employee is entitled to authorize a |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | deduction for contributions to the commission for the purposes of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | administering the grant program under this section as a charitable |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | contribution under Section 659.132, and the commission may use the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | contributions as provided by Subsection (a). |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
