99 AN ACT
1010 relating to charitable contributions by state employees to assist
1111 domestic victims of human trafficking.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. Section 531.383, Government Code, is amended by
1414 adding Subsection (f) to read as follows:
1515 (f) For purposes of Subchapter I, Chapter 659:
1616 (1) the commission, for the sole purpose of
1717 administering the grant program under this section, is considered
1818 an eligible charitable organization entitled to participate in the
1919 state employee charitable campaign; and
2020 (2) a state employee is entitled to authorize a
2121 deduction for contributions to the commission for the purposes of
2222 administering the grant program under this section as a charitable
2323 contribution under Section 659.132, and the commission may use the
2424 contributions as provided by Subsection (a).
2525 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2626 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2727 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2828 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2929 Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
