The bill would amend the Government Code to eliminate the requirement for Concealed Handgun License (CHL) holders to complete a continuing education/renewal course in order to renew the CHL. The bill would allow the use of the Internet to submit and process renewal applications. It is assumed the costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within current appropriations. The bill would take effect September 1, 2013. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
