99 AN ACT
1010 relating to certain procedures for submitting legible and
1111 classifiable fingerprints with an application for a license to
1212 carry a concealed handgun.
1313 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1414 SECTION 1. Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code, is
1515 amended by adding Section 411.175 to read as follows:
1616 Sec. 411.175. PROCEDURES FOR SUBMITTING FINGERPRINTS. The
1717 department shall establish procedures for the submission of legible
1818 and classifiable fingerprints by an applicant for a license under
1919 this subchapter who:
2020 (1) is required to submit those fingerprints to the
2121 department, including an applicant under Section 411.199,
2222 411.1991, or 411.201; and
2323 (2) resides in a county having a population of 46,000
2424 or less and does not reside within a 25-mile radius of a facility
2525 with the capability to process digital or electronic fingerprints.
2626 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
2727 to an application for a license to carry a concealed handgun that is
2828 submitted to the Department of Public Safety on or after the
2929 effective date of this Act.
3030 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
