12 | 12 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

13 | 13 | | SECTION 1. Section 57.001(3), Business & Commerce Code, as |

14 | 14 | | added by Chapter 979 (H.B. 1711), Acts of the 82nd Legislature, |
---|
15 | 15 | | Regular Session, 2011, is amended to read as follows: |

16 | 16 | | (3) "Natural disaster" means the occurrence of |
---|
17 | 17 | | widespread or severe damage, injury, or loss of life or property |
---|
18 | 18 | | related to any natural cause, including fire, flood, earthquake, |
---|
19 | 19 | | wind, storm, or wave action, that results in a disaster declaration |
---|
20 | 20 | | by the governor or a local disaster declaration by a county judge |
---|
21 | 21 | | under Chapter 418, Government Code. |

22 | 22 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
