99 AN ACT
1010 relating to restrictions on disaster remediation contracts
1111 following a locally declared disaster.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. Section 57.001(3), Business & Commerce Code, as
1414 added by Chapter 979 (H.B. 1711), Acts of the 82nd Legislature,
1515 Regular Session, 2011, is amended to read as follows:
1616 (3) "Natural disaster" means the occurrence of
1717 widespread or severe damage, injury, or loss of life or property
1818 related to any natural cause, including fire, flood, earthquake,
1919 wind, storm, or wave action, that results in a disaster declaration
2020 by the governor or a local disaster declaration by a county judge
2121 under Chapter 418, Government Code.
2222 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
