H.R. No. 333
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Russell Pennington of the Amarillo Independent
School District received well-deserved recognition when he was
named a Teacher of the Year by the Region 16 Education Service
Center in August 2012; and
WHEREAS, The winners of these prestigious annual awards are
first nominated for consideration by their fellow faculty members,
and they advance through district selections before becoming
eligible for the regional honor; Mr. Pennington was picked from a
field of six to earn the Secondary Teacher of the Year title; and
WHEREAS, A geometry instructor at Caprock High School, this
outstanding educator focuses on building confidence and
self-esteem among the young people in his classes so that they feel
more capable of mastering the subject matter at hand; and
WHEREAS, Through his creativity, energy, and
resourcefulness, Russell Pennington has inspired in his students a
love of learning that will serve them well throughout their lives;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Russell Pennington on his
selection as a Teacher of the Year by the Region 16 Education
Service Center and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
success with his important work; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Pennington as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
