77 relating to conforming the eligibility under a major events trust
88 fund of a National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I
99 Football Bowl Subdivision postseason event with the changes to the
1010 Bowl Championship Series system.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Subdivision (4), Subsection (a), Section 5A,
1313 Chapter 1507 (S.B. 456), Acts of the 76th Legislature, Regular
1414 Session, 1999 (Article 5190.14, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), is
1515 amended to read as follows:
1616 (4) "Event" means a Super Bowl, a National Collegiate
1717 Athletic Association Final Four tournament game, the National
1818 Basketball Association All-Star Game, the National Hockey League
1919 All-Star Game, the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, a game of
2020 the National Collegiate Athletic Association Bowl Championship
2121 Series or its successor or a National Collegiate Athletic
2222 Association Division I Football Bowl Subdivision postseason
2323 playoff or championship game, a World Cup Soccer game, the World
2424 Games, a national collegiate championship of an amateur sport
2525 sanctioned by the national governing body of the sport that is
2626 recognized by the United States Olympic Committee, an Olympic
2727 activity, including a Junior or Senior activity, training program,
2828 or feeder program sanctioned by the United States Olympic
2929 Committee's Community Olympic Development Program, the Breeders'
3030 Cup World Championships, a Formula One automobile race, the Academy
3131 of Country Music Awards, the National Cutting Horse Association
3232 Triple Crown, or a national political convention of the Republican
3333 National Committee or the Democratic National Committee. The term
3434 includes any activities related to or associated with an event.
3535 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3636 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3737 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3838 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3939 Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
