| 13 | 13 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 14 | 14 | | SECTION 1. Section 18.068, Election Code, as added by |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Chapter 683 (H.B. 174), Acts of the 82nd Legislature, Regular |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Session, 2011, is amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Sec. 18.068. COMPARISON OF INFORMATION REGARDING |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | INELIGIBILITY. (a) The secretary of state shall quarterly compare |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the information received under Section 16.001 of this code and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Section 62.113, Government Code, to the statewide computerized |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | voter registration list. If the secretary determines that a voter |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | on the registration list is deceased or has been excused or |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | disqualified from jury service because the voter is not a citizen, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | the secretary shall send notice of the determination to the voter |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | registrar of the counties considered appropriate by the secretary. |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | (b) In making the determination that a voter who has voted |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | within the last four years is deceased under this section, the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | secretary of state must identify the following information as |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | common to the voter and the deceased person: |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | (1) the last name; |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | (2) the date of birth; and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | (3) the social security number. |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
