114 AN ACT
125 relating to the classification of licensed massage therapy programs
136 as postsecondary education programs.
147 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
158 SECTION 1. Section 455.203, Occupations Code, is amended by
169 adding Subsections (e) and (f) to read as follows:
1710 (e) The course of instruction in massage therapy provided by
1811 a licensed massage school is a postsecondary education program.
1912 (f) A massage school that provides instruction to persons
2013 beyond the age of compulsory education is authorized to operate
2114 educational programs in massage therapy at the postsecondary level.
2215 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act to Section
2316 455.203, Occupations Code, does not confer any new or additional
2417 regulatory authority on the Department of State Health Services or
2518 prescribe any new or additional requirements for massage schools
2619 licensed under Chapter 455, Occupations Code.
2720 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2821 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2922 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3023 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3124 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
