910 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1011 SECTION 1. Sections 5A(a)(4) and (5), Chapter 1507 (S.B.
1112 456), Acts of the 76th Legislature, Regular Session, 1999 (Article
12- 5190.14, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), are amended to read as
13- follows:
13+ 5190.14, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), as amended by S.B. 293,
14+ Acts of the 84th Legislature, Regular Session, 2015, are amended to
15+ read as follows:
1416 (4) "Event" means a Super Bowl, a National Collegiate
1517 Athletic Association Final Four tournament game, the National
1618 Basketball Association All-Star Game, the X Games, the National
1719 Hockey League All-Star Game, the Major League Baseball All-Star
1820 Game, a game of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Bowl
1921 Championship Series or its successor or a National Collegiate
2022 Athletic Association Division I Football Bowl Subdivision
2123 postseason playoff or championship game, a World Cup Soccer game,
2224 the World Games, a national collegiate championship of an amateur
2325 sport sanctioned by the national governing body of the sport that is
2426 recognized by the United States Olympic Committee, an Olympic
2527 activity, including a Junior or Senior activity, training program,
2628 or feeder program sanctioned by the United States Olympic
2729 Committee's Community Olympic Development Program, a mixed martial
2830 arts championship, the Breeders' Cup World Championships, a Formula
2931 One automobile race, the Academy of Country Music Awards, the
3032 National Cutting Horse Association Triple Crown, a presidential
3133 general election debate, a national political convention of the
3234 Republican National Committee or the Democratic National
3335 Committee, or the largest event held each year at a sports
3436 entertainment venue in this state with a permanent seating
3537 capacity, including grandstand and premium seating, of not less
3638 than 125,000. The term includes any activities related to or
3739 associated with an event.
3840 (5) "Site selection organization" means:
3941 (A) the National Football League, the National
4042 Collegiate Athletic Association, the National Basketball
41- Association, the National Hockey League, Major League Baseball, the
42- Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the
43- International World Games Association, or the United States Olympic
44- Committee;
43+ Association, ESPN or an affiliate, the National Hockey League,
44+ Major League Baseball, the Federation Internationale de Football
45+ Association (FIFA), the International World Games Association, the
46+ National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR), or the
47+ United States Olympic Committee;
4548 (B) the national governing body of a sport that
4649 is recognized by the United States Olympic Committee, the National
4750 Thoroughbred Racing Association, Formula One Management Limited,
4851 or the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile;
4952 (C) the Academy of Country Music;
50- (D) the National Cutting Horse Association; [or]
53+ (D) the National Cutting Horse Association;
5154 (E) the Republican National Committee or the
52- Democratic National Committee; or
53- (F) the Commission on Presidential Debates.
55+ Democratic National Committee; [or]
56+ (F) the Ultimate Fighting Championship; or
57+ (G) the Commission on Presidential Debates.
5458 SECTION 2. Section 5A, Chapter 1507 (S.B. 456), Acts of the
5559 76th Legislature, Regular Session, 1999 (Article 5190.14, Vernon's
5660 Texas Civil Statutes), is amended by adding Subsection (a-3) to
5761 read as follows:
5862 (a-3) For purposes of Subsection (a-1) of this section, each
5963 presidential general election debate in a series of presidential
6064 debates before a general election is considered a separate, single
6165 event.
6266 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
