 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to the provision of services to certain HIV-infected
 individuals.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Subsection (b) of Sec. 85.061, Health and Safety
 Code, is amended to read as follows:
 Sec. 85.061.  HIV MEDICATION PROGRAM.  (a)  The Texas HIV
 medication program is established in the department.
 (b)  (1)  The program shall assist hospital districts, local
 health departments, public or nonprofit hospitals and clinics,
 nonprofit community organizations, and HIV-infected individuals in
 the purchase of medications approved by the board that have been
 shown to be effective in reducing hospitalizations due to
 HIV-related conditions.
 (2)  Out of funding available under Subchapter C and D,
 the program shall assist in the provision of discharge planning and
 transitional primary care and social support services to
 HIV-infected individuals in the custody of a local county jail in a
 county with a population of 3.3 million or more who are nearing
 release or whose incarceration is of a short duration.
 SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
