| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 773.122, Health and Safety Code, is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amended by adding Subsections (b-1), (b-2), and (b-3) to read as |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | (b-1) The catastrophic emergency medical services account |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | is a dedicated account in the general revenue fund. Money from the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | account may be appropriated only for the purposes of this section in |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | a situation in which the reserve described by Subsection (b) is |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | insufficient to cover costs. |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (b-2) At the end of each fiscal year, the commissioner shall |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | deposit the unexpended balance of the reserve described by |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Subsection (b) into the catastrophic emergency medical services |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | account. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (b-3) If at the end of a fiscal year the amount of money in |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the catastrophic emergency medical services account, together with |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | the unexpended balance of the reserve described by Subsection (b), |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | exceeds $2 million, the comptroller shall transfer any amount that |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | exceeds $2 million to the supplemental emergency medical services |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | grant account under Section 773.1221. |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | SECTION 2. Subchapter E, Chapter 773, Health and Safety |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Code, is amended by adding Section 773.1221 to read as follows: |

| 30 | 30 | | Sec. 773.1221. SUPPLEMENTAL EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | GRANT ACCOUNT. (a) The supplemental emergency medical services |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | grant account is a dedicated account in the general revenue fund |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | into which money is deposited under Section 773.122(b-3). |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | (b) Money in the account may be used only to fund grants |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | under Section 773.119. |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
