77 relating to the funding of emergency medical services and trauma
88 care.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 773.122, Health and Safety Code, is
1111 amended by adding Subsections (b-1), (b-2), and (b-3) to read as
1212 follows:
1313 (b-1) The catastrophic emergency medical services account
1414 is a dedicated account in the general revenue fund. Money from the
1515 account may be appropriated only for the purposes of this section in
1616 a situation in which the reserve described by Subsection (b) is
1717 insufficient to cover costs.
1818 (b-2) At the end of each fiscal year, the commissioner shall
1919 deposit the unexpended balance of the reserve described by
2020 Subsection (b) into the catastrophic emergency medical services
2121 account.
2222 (b-3) If at the end of a fiscal year the amount of money in
2323 the catastrophic emergency medical services account, together with
2424 the unexpended balance of the reserve described by Subsection (b),
2525 exceeds $2 million, the comptroller shall transfer any amount that
2626 exceeds $2 million to the supplemental emergency medical services
2727 grant account under Section 773.1221.
2828 SECTION 2. Subchapter E, Chapter 773, Health and Safety
2929 Code, is amended by adding Section 773.1221 to read as follows:
3030 Sec. 773.1221. SUPPLEMENTAL EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES
3131 GRANT ACCOUNT. (a) The supplemental emergency medical services
3232 grant account is a dedicated account in the general revenue fund
3333 into which money is deposited under Section 773.122(b-3).
3434 (b) Money in the account may be used only to fund grants
3535 under Section 773.119.
3636 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
