55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to an exemption from the sales and use tax for certain
88 lightbulbs for a limited period.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 151.333(b), Tax Code, is amended to read
1111 as follows:
1212 (b) This section applies only to the following
1313 energy-efficient products:
1414 (1) an air conditioner the sales price of which does
1515 not exceed $6,000;
1616 (2) a clothes washer;
1717 (3) a ceiling fan;
1818 (4) a dehumidifier;
1919 (5) a dishwasher;
2020 (6) an incandescent, [or] fluorescent, or
2121 light-emitting diode (LED) lightbulb;
2222 (7) a programmable thermostat; and
2323 (8) a refrigerator the sales price of which does not
2424 exceed $2,000.
2525 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act does not
2626 affect tax liability accruing before the effective date of this
2727 Act. That liability continues in effect as if this Act had not been
2828 enacted, and the former law is continued in effect for the
2929 collection of taxes due and for civil and criminal enforcement of
3030 the liability for those taxes.
3131 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
