| 13 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 14 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Section 552.053, Local Government Code, is |
|---|
| 15 | 9 | | amended by amending Subsection (d) and adding Subsection (d-1) to |
|---|
| 16 | 10 | | read as follows: |
|---|
| 17 | 11 | | (d) A municipality may exempt property owned by a religious |
|---|
| 18 | 12 | | organization that is exempt from taxation pursuant to Section |
|---|
| 19 | 13 | | 11.20, Tax Code, from all or a portion of drainage charges under |
|---|
| 20 | 14 | | this subchapter, as the governing body of the municipality |
|---|
| 21 | 15 | | considers appropriate. |
|---|
| 22 | 16 | | (d-1) A municipality may exempt property used for cemetery |
|---|
| 23 | 17 | | purposes from drainage charges under Section 552.047 if the |
|---|
| 24 | 18 | | cemetery is closed to new interments and does not accept new |
|---|
| 25 | 19 | | burials. |
|---|
| 26 | 20 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 27 | 21 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 28 | 22 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 29 | 23 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 30 | 24 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
