104 AN ACT
115 relating to the exemption of certain property from municipal
126 drainage service charges.
137 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
148 SECTION 1. Section 552.053, Local Government Code, is
159 amended by amending Subsection (d) and adding Subsection (d-1) to
1610 read as follows:
1711 (d) A municipality may exempt property owned by a religious
1812 organization that is exempt from taxation pursuant to Section
1913 11.20, Tax Code, from all or a portion of drainage charges under
2014 this subchapter, as the governing body of the municipality
2115 considers appropriate.
2216 (d-1) A municipality may exempt property used for cemetery
2317 purposes from drainage charges under Section 552.047 if the
2418 cemetery is closed to new interments and does not accept new
2519 burials.
2620 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2721 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2822 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2923 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3024 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
