99 relating to the applicability of certain definitions and certain
1010 laws governing attorneys ad litem, guardians ad litem, and amicus
1111 attorneys in family law proceedings.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. Title 2, Family Code, is amended by adding
1414 Subtitle E to read as follows:
1515 SUBTITLE E. GENERAL PROVISIONS
1616 CHAPTER 47. GENERAL PROVISIONS
1717 Sec. 47.001. APPLICABILITY OF DEFINITIONS. (a) Except as
1818 provided by Subsection (b), the definitions in Chapter 101 apply to
1919 terms used in this title.
2020 (b) If a term defined in this title has a meaning different
2121 from the meaning provided by Chapter 101, the meaning provided by
2222 this title prevails.
2323 Sec. 47.002. APPLICABILITY OF LAWS RELATING TO ATTORNEYS AD
2424 LITEM, GUARDIANS AD LITEM, AND AMICUS ATTORNEYS. Chapter 107
2525 applies to the appointment of an attorney ad litem, guardian ad
2626 litem, or amicus attorney under this title.
2727 SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to
2828 a proceeding that is commenced on or after the effective date of
2929 this Act. A proceeding that is commenced before that date is
3030 governed by the law as it existed on the date the proceeding was
3131 commenced, and the former law is continued in effect for that
3232 purpose.
3333 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
