55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to a study by the Texas Department of Transportation of the
88 navigability of the Red River for commercial purposes.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. (a) In this section, "department" means the
1111 Texas Department of Transportation.
1212 (b) The department shall conduct a study of the feasibility
1313 of and the costs and benefits associated with the use of the Red
1414 River for commercial navigation between the Denison Dam on Lake
1515 Texoma and Shreveport, Louisiana.
1616 (c) The department shall consult with stakeholders and the
1717 appropriate governmental agencies in Arkansas and Louisiana in
1818 conducting the study.
1919 (d) The department may accept grants or private donations
2020 for the purposes of conducting the study under this section.
2121 (e) Not later than January 1, 2017, the department shall
2222 submit to the legislature a report containing the findings of the
2323 study conducted under this section.
2424 SECTION 2. This Act expires January 2, 2017.
2525 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
