9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. (a) In this section, "department" means the | |
11 | 11 | Texas Department of Transportation. | |
12 | 12 | (b) The department shall conduct a study of the feasibility | |
13 | 13 | of and the costs and benefits associated with the use of the Red | |
14 | 14 | River for commercial navigation between the Denison Dam on Lake | |
15 | 15 | Texoma and Shreveport, Louisiana. | |
16 | 16 | (c) The department shall consult with stakeholders and the | |
17 | 17 | appropriate governmental agencies in Arkansas and Louisiana in | |
18 | 18 | conducting the study. | |
19 | 19 | (d) The department may accept grants or private donations | |
20 | 20 | for the purposes of conducting the study under this section. | |
21 | 21 | (e) Not later than January 1, 2017, the department shall | |
22 | 22 | submit to the legislature a report containing the findings of the | |
23 | 23 | study conducted under this section. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 2. This Act expires January 2, 2017. | |
25 | 25 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
