 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to a study by the Texas Department of Transportation of the
 navigability of the Red River for commercial purposes.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  (a) In this section, "department" means the
 Texas Department of Transportation.
 (b)  The department shall conduct a study of the feasibility
 of and the costs and benefits associated with the use of the Red
 River for commercial navigation between the Denison Dam on Lake
 Texoma and Shreveport, Louisiana.
 (c)  The department shall consult with stakeholders and the
 appropriate governmental agencies in Arkansas and Louisiana in
 conducting the study.
 (d)  The department may accept grants or private donations
 for the purposes of conducting the study under this section.
 (e)  Not later than January 1, 2017, the department shall
 submit to the legislature a report containing the findings of the
 study conducted under this section.
 SECTION 2.  This Act expires January 2, 2017.
 SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
