| 14 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 15 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Section 21.010(b), Government Code, is amended |
|---|
| 16 | 10 | | to read as follows: |
|---|
| 17 | 11 | | (b) A justice or judge is considered to have a significant |
|---|
| 18 | 12 | | interest in a business entity described by Subsection (a) for |
|---|
| 19 | 13 | | purposes of this section if: |
|---|
| 20 | 14 | | (1) the justice or judge owns any voting stock or share |
|---|
| 21 | 15 | | or has a direct investment in the business entity [that represents |
|---|
| 22 | 16 | | the lesser of at least 10 percent or $15,000 of the fair market |
|---|
| 23 | 17 | | value of the business entity]; or |
|---|
| 24 | 18 | | (2) the justice or judge receives money from the |
|---|
| 25 | 19 | | business entity. |

| 26 | 20 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect January 1, 2017. |
