 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to the content of a temporary license issued by the
 Department of Public Safety of the State of Texas.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1. Section 521.124, Transportation Code, is amended
 by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
 (c) A temporary license issued to an applicant must include:
 (1)  the applicant's name;
 (2)  the date of issuance of the temporary license;
 (3) a statement indicating either that the applicant
 submitted a voter registration application or declined to register
 to vote; and
 (4) the following statement: "If you submitted a voter
 registration application at the time you applied for a driver's
 license, this temporary license is proof of your application for
 voter registration. Retain it until you receive a voter
 registration certificate from your local voter registrar. If you
 do not receive a voter registration certificate, you may use this as
 proof that you submitted a timely voter registration application."
 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
 to a temporary license issued by the Department of Public Safety of
 the State of Texas on or after the effective date of this Act. A
 temporary license issued by the Department of Public Safety of the
 State of Texas before the effective date of this Act is governed by
 the law in effect at the time of issuance and the former law is
 continued in effect for that purpose.
 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
