55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to prohibiting the online posting of certain documents
88 submitted to the chief appraiser of an appraisal district in an
99 application for an exemption from ad valorem taxation.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 11, Tax Code, is amended by
1212 adding Section 11.49 to read as follows:
1313 Sec. 11.49. SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS. (a) In this section,
1414 "supporting document" means a document required by this code or
1515 other law to be filed with the chief appraiser to demonstrate a
1616 person's eligibility for an exemption from ad valorem taxation.
1717 (b) The chief appraiser may not post on the appraisal
1818 district's Internet website a supporting document included with an
1919 application for an exemption filed with the chief appraiser.
2020 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2121 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2222 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2323 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2424 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
