A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to unfair settlement practices for insurers providing
workers' compensation insurance.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 542.003, Insurance Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
(c) This section applies to an insurance carrier, as that
term is defined by Section 401.011, Labor Code, providing workers'
compensation insurance. Subsection (b)(6) does not apply to the
insurance carrier if the division of workers' compensation of the
department determines that the insurance carrier is in compliance
with division rules relating to access to workers'
compensation-related records and information.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
