| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 39.052, Education Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | adding Subsection (e-1) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | (e-1) The notification to parents of students enrolled in |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the district required under Subsection (e) must be written in a |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | parent's native language if that language is a second language for |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | at least 10 percent of the students attending the school campus in |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | which the parent's child is enrolled. |

| 17 | 17 | | SECTION 2. Section 39.303, Education Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (c) The written notice to a student's parent or other person |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | standing in parental relationship required under Subsection (a) |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | must be written in the native language of the parent or person |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | standing in parental relationship if that language is a second |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | language for at least 10 percent of students attending the school |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | campus in which the student is enrolled. |

| 25 | 25 | | SECTION 3. Section 39.305, Education Code, is amended by |

| 26 | 26 | | adding Subsection (e) to read as follows: |

| 27 | 27 | | (e) The information required to be given to the parent or |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | other person standing in parental relationship of each student |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | under Subsection (c) must be written in the native language of the |

| 30 | 30 | | parent or person standing in parental relationship if that language |

| 31 | 31 | | is a second language for at least 10 percent of students attending |

| 32 | 32 | | the school campus in which the student is enrolled. |

| 33 | 33 | | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
