A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the authority of the Texas Transportation Commission to
fund projects related to the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Chapter 51, Transportation Code, is amended by
adding Section 51.015 to read as follows:
Sec. 51.015. FUNDING ASSISTANCE. (a) The commission may
use state funds, including undedicated portions of the state
highway fund, to:
(1) assist the United States Army Corps of Engineers
with the costs of maintenance and supplemental dredging activities
for the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway; or
(2) fund capital projects to repair, improve, or
replace infrastructure facilities, as specified by the commission,
along the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, and fund studies to determine
the feasibility of capital projects.
(b) The commission may authorize the executive director of
the department or the executive director's designee to enter into
agreements with the United States Army Corps of Engineers under
this section.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
