115 relating to changing the name of the Medical Advisory Committee
126 appointed by the Texas Commission of Licensing and Regulation to
137 the Combative Sports Advisory Board and allowing the board to
148 address a broader range of issues.
159 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1610 SECTION 1. Section 2052.055, Occupations Code, is amended
1711 to read as follows:
1812 Sec. 2052.055. COMBATIVE SPORTS [MEDICAL] ADVISORY BOARD
1913 [COMMITTEE]. (a) The presiding officer of the commission, with the
2014 commission's approval, may appoint a combative sports [medical]
2115 advisory board [committee] to advise the department concerning
2216 [health] issues relating to [for] combative sports events and
2317 [event] contestants.
2418 (b) If the commission elects to appoint an advisory board
2519 [committee], the commission by rule shall establish:
2620 (1) the number of board [committee] members;
2721 (2) qualifications for appointment to the board
2822 [committee]; and
2923 (3) the purpose and duties of the board [committee].
3024 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
