99 relating to the reporting requirements for a person who makes

1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. The heading to Section 254.261, Election Code,
1313 is amended to read as follows:
1414 Sec. 254.261. DIRECT CAMPAIGN EXPENDITURE EXCEEDING $1,000
1515 [$100].
1616 SECTION 2. Section 254.261(a), Election Code, is amended to
1717 read as follows:
1818 (a) A person not acting in concert with another person who
1919 makes one or more direct campaign expenditures in an election from
2020 the person's own property that exceed $1,000 shall comply with this
2121 chapter as if the person were the campaign treasurer of a
2222 general-purpose committee that does not file monthly reports under
2323 Section 254.155.
2424 SECTION 3. Section 254.261(a), Election Code, as amended by
2525 this Act, applies to the reporting of a contribution or expenditure
2626 made on or after the effective date of this Act. A contribution or
2727 expenditure made before the effective date of this Act is governed
2828 by the law in effect when the contribution or expenditure was made,
2929 and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose.
3030 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
