| 11 | 5 | | relating to the issuance of a concealed handgun license to certain |

| 12 | 6 | | retired judicial officers. |

| 13 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 14 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Section 411.201(a), Government Code, is amended |
|---|
| 15 | 9 | | by amending Subdivision (2) and adding Subdivision (3) to read as |
|---|
| 16 | 10 | | follows: |
|---|
| 17 | 11 | | (2) "Federal judge" means: |
|---|
| 18 | 12 | | (A) a judge of a United States court of appeals; |
|---|
| 19 | 13 | | (B) a judge of a United States district court; |
|---|
| 20 | 14 | | (C) a judge of a United States bankruptcy court; |
|---|
| 21 | 15 | | or |
|---|
| 22 | 16 | | (D) a magistrate judge of a United States |
|---|
| 23 | 17 | | district court. |
|---|
| 24 | 18 | | (3) "Retired judicial officer" means: |
|---|
| 25 | 19 | | (A) a visiting [special] judge appointed under |
|---|
| 26 | 20 | | Section 26.023 or 26.024; [or] |
|---|
| 27 | 21 | | (B) a senior judge designated under Section |
|---|
| 28 | 22 | | 75.001 or a judicial officer as designated or defined by Section |
|---|
| 29 | 23 | | 75.001, 831.001, or 836.001; or |
|---|
| 30 | 24 | | (C) a retired federal judge who is a resident of |
|---|
| 31 | 25 | | this state. |
|---|
| 32 | 26 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 33 | 27 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 34 | 28 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 35 | 29 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 36 | 30 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
