| 13 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 14 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 13, Parks and Wildlife |
|---|
| 15 | 9 | | Code, is amended by adding Section 13.0046 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 16 | 10 | | Sec. 13.0046. COOPERATION WITH INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER |
|---|
| 17 | 11 | | EDUCATION. (a) In this section, "institution of higher education" |
|---|
| 18 | 12 | | has the meaning assigned by Section 61.003, Education Code. |
|---|
| 19 | 13 | | (b) The commission may enter into a joint agreement with the |
|---|
| 20 | 14 | | governing board of an institution of higher education to finance |
|---|
| 21 | 15 | | and build a conference center and other appropriate related |
|---|
| 22 | 16 | | facilities to be located in or near a state park. |
|---|
| 23 | 17 | | (c) A facility built under this section must be operated |
|---|
| 24 | 18 | | cooperatively to provide benefits to the department and the |
|---|
| 25 | 19 | | institution of higher education in accomplishing the purposes of |
|---|
| 26 | 20 | | the department and the institution. |
|---|
| 27 | 21 | | (d) The commission and an institution of higher education |
|---|
| 28 | 22 | | may use any funds, property, or other assets available to finance |
|---|
| 29 | 23 | | and build a facility under this section. |
|---|
| 30 | 24 | | SECTION 2. This Act applies only to an agreement entered |
|---|
| 31 | 25 | | into on or after the effective date of this Act. |
|---|
| 32 | 26 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
