| 25 | 25 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 26 | 26 | | SECTION 1. Section 4001.162, Insurance Code, is amended to |

| 27 | 27 | | read as follows: |

| 28 | 28 | | Sec. 4001.162. RESTRICTION ON APPOINTMENT OF TEMPORARY |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | LICENSE HOLDERS. (a) Except as provided by Subsection (b), an [An] |

| 30 | 30 | | agent, insurer, or health maintenance organization may not appoint |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | more than 500 temporary license holders during a calendar year. |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | (b) The commissioner shall adopt reasonable rules setting |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | standards for an agent, insurer, or health maintenance organization |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | to appoint more than 500 temporary license holders during a |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | calendar year. The standards must include consideration of the |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | ability of an agent, insurer, or health maintenance organization to |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | monitor appointed temporary agents. |

| 38 | 38 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
