10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 141, Election Code, is | |
11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 141.005 to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 141.005. UNLAWFUL MISREPRESENTATION OF RESIDENCY | |
13 | 13 | STATUS. (a) A person commits an offense if the person knowingly or | |
14 | 14 | intentionally misrepresents the person's residency to appear | |
15 | 15 | eligible to be a candidate for, or elected or appointed to, a public | |
16 | 16 | elective office in this state. | |
17 | 17 | (b) An offense under this section is a felony of the third | |
18 | 18 | degree. | |
19 | 19 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
