104 AN ACT
115 relating to the reactivation of a peace officer license;
126 authorizing fees.
137 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
148 SECTION 1. Section 1701.316, Occupations Code, is amended
159 by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
1610 (c) The commission shall reactivate a peace officer's
1711 license after a break in employment if the former license holder:
1812 (1) completed at least 10 years of full-time service
1913 as a peace officer in good standing before the break in employment;
2014 (2) meets current licensing standards;
2115 (3) successfully completes:
2216 (A) an online or in-person supplemental peace
2317 officer course of not more than 120 hours; and
2418 (B) other in-person training requirements of not
2519 more than 40 hours;
2620 (4) passes a peace officer reactivation examination;
2721 (5) files an application; and
2822 (6) pays any required fees.
2923 SECTION 2. Section 1701.316(c), Occupations Code, as added
3024 by this Act, applies only to a license for which an application for
3125 reactivation of the license is filed on or after the effective date
3226 of this Act. A license for which an application for reactivation of
3327 the license is filed before the effective date of this Act is
3428 governed by the law in effect on the date the application was filed,
3529 and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose.
3630 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
