| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, After graduating from Sinton High School in 1970, |

| 9 | 10 | | Terry Simpson began a career in law enforcement as a deputy sheriff |

| 10 | 11 | | and a dispatcher for the San Patricio County Sheriff's Office; he |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | joined the Sinton Police Department as a patrol officer in 1977 and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | then later resumed his service with the sheriff's department; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Judge Simpson entered politics in 1997 when the |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | commissioners court appointed him justice of the peace for San |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Patricio County Precinct 1, and he was elected to that office by |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | area voters two years later; he went on to win the seat for county |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | judge in 2002, and he has since been victorious in each subsequent |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | bid for reelection; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of his tenure, Judge Simpson has |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | made exceptional efforts toward the development of San Patricio |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | County, prioritizing regional road projects and securing a seat for |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | the county on the Corpus Christi Port Commission; he has further |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | distinguished himself as chair of the Corpus Christi Metropolitan |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | Planning Organization board and as president of the County Judges |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | and Commissioners Association of Texas; in recognition of his |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | outstanding work, the Texas Department of Transportation presented |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | him with the prestigious Road Hand Award; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed public official has set high standards |

| 29 | 30 | | of leadership throughout a notable career of service, and his |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | impressive achievements have earned him the deep respect and |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | appreciation of his fellow Texans; now, therefore, be it |
