66 CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
77 WHEREAS, Texas and the State of Israel have mutually
88 benefited from an enduring relationship forged through common
99 values and historical and cultural ties; and
1010 WHEREAS, The United States became the first country to
1111 recognize Israel as a sovereign nation in 1948, and since that time,
1212 the two great lands have been strengthened by their alliance in
1313 economic trade, diplomacy, and national security; and
1414 WHEREAS, Through the years, trade has been a vital link
1515 between Texas and Israel, with state exports to Israel totaling
1616 nearly $600 million in 2013; this strong commercial partnership has
1717 resulted in more robust economies and even greater cross-cultural
1818 understanding; and
1919 WHEREAS, Relations between Texas and Israel have
2020 immeasurably contributed to the prosperity enjoyed by both, and
2121 their lasting friendship is a testament to the profound respect and
2222 steadfast commitment that they share; now, therefore, be it
2323 RESOLVED, That the 84th Legislature of the State of Texas
2424 hereby declare the State of Israel a major strategic ally of Texas
2525 and reaffirm its dedication to continuing their long-standing and
2626 productive relationship.
