| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Texas and the State of Israel have mutually |

| 8 | 8 | | benefited from an enduring relationship forged through common |

| 9 | 9 | | values and historical and cultural ties; and |

| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The United States became the first country to |

| 11 | 11 | | recognize Israel as a sovereign nation in 1948, and since that time, |

| 12 | 12 | | the two great lands have been strengthened by their alliance in |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | economic trade, diplomacy, and national security; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Through the years, trade has been a vital link |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | between Texas and Israel, with state exports to Israel totaling |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | nearly $600 million in 2013; this strong commercial partnership has |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | resulted in more robust economies and even greater cross-cultural |

| 18 | 18 | | understanding; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Relations between Texas and Israel have |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | immeasurably contributed to the prosperity enjoyed by both, and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | their lasting friendship is a testament to the profound respect and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | steadfast commitment that they share; now, therefore, be it |

| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the 84th Legislature of the State of Texas |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | hereby declare the State of Israel a major strategic ally of Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and reaffirm its dedication to continuing their long-standing and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | productive relationship. |
