| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Born in Grand Saline on November 30, 1962, to Judge |

| 10 | 11 | | Bill Bass and Patsy McMurray Bass, Julia Bass graduated from |

| 11 | 12 | | St. Mary's Hall High School in San Antonio and pursued her higher |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | education at The University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a |

| 13 | 14 | | bachelor's degree in English language and literature; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, This accomplished woman began her career in state |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | government in 1994, when she joined the staff of the Texas House of |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Representatives; Ms. Bass went on to serve the citizens of the Lone |

| 17 | 18 | | Star State with the utmost dedication during an outstanding career |

| 18 | 19 | | that spanned more than two decades; noted for her commitment to |

| 19 | 20 | | excellence, she held the title of journal clerk from the 78th |

| 20 | 21 | | through the 83rd Legislative Sessions, handling her duties with |

| 21 | 22 | | exceptional skill and attention to detail over the course of her |

|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, In addition to earning the respect of others for her |

| 24 | 25 | | invaluable professional contributions, Ms. Bass was admired by |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | many for the grace, humor, and courage with which she lived her |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | life, which was challenged early by scoliosis and later by cancer; |

| 27 | 28 | | finding joy in life despite these hardships, she delighted in the |

| 28 | 29 | | company of her loved ones, including her favorite four-legged |

| 29 | 30 | | companions, and in her free time, she took pleasure in jewelry |

| 30 | 31 | | making, traveling, and writing, and together with her sister, she |

| 31 | 32 | | published two novels of historical fiction; and |

| 32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Although her journey on this earth ended far too |

| 33 | 34 | | soon, Julia Bass was blessed with a caring and cheerful nature and |

| 34 | 35 | | an indomitable spirit that won her many friends, and she will not |

| 35 | 36 | | soon be forgotten by all those who were privileged to know her; now, |
